Role

The Design Manager, Development West assists in developing the technical design capabilities for City Edge Developments’ projects, as well as the corresponding operating procedures necessary to deliver innovative design-build service.

Key Accountabilities

  • Proficiently translate the project vision and requirements into all aspects of the design documentation and delivery process.
  • Manage all design services within budget and agreed timescales through the assigned team(s).
  • Manage the production of design information to suit the required master program.
  • Manage and report on the statutory authority processes on each project.
  • Attend all the required committees during the projects’ life cycle.
  • Set up and manage the design consultants' database and prequalification criteria.
  • Coordinate with the Development Department to provide the design brief and product mix at the projects’ early stage that shows and reflects the company’s vision.
  • Coordinate with the Commercial Department to ensure that projects are within budget.
  • Manage and resolve any claims or disputes and ensure compliance with contractual terms and timescales.
  • Accountable for technical design and documentation competence, resolution, and coordination of building systems (in conjunction with system engineering experts), building material selection, and specification.
  • Take ownership of technical design and documentation quality.

Strategy & Business Planning

  • Provide day-to-day project direction and management of design-team partners, internal and external, on design-build projects through all phases of project delivery.
  • During the design phase, lead project team meetings, workshops, and other collaborative communications to improve design delivery efficiency, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and specifications for City Edge’s design documentation production, construction administration, and project/process management workflows.
  • Assist in optimizing design and documentation workflows and deliverables for the design-build delivery process.
  • Adhere to departmental budgets and ensure optimal utilization of all available resources.
  • Perform any additional tasks as requested according to the company’s policies and procedures.

Necessary Experience

  • 10-15 years of related experience of which a minimum of 3-6 years in a similar Industry. 

Education Requirements

  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a related fields would be desirable.
